Spring Forest Qigong

What is Spring Forest Qigong?  

Spring Forest Qigong is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and is considered a medical form of qigong. There are four components to this practice: mindfulness, breath, movement and sound. This practice is very gentle and can be undertaken standing, sitting or lying down. No props or special equipment is needed.  

The main idea behind this practice is to balance the yin and yang in the body by moving energy. Unlike yoga, which focuses on opening up chakras, this practice focuses on opening up energy meridians throughout the body. When the energy isn’t flowing smoothly through these energy meridians, blockages or entanglements can occur.  Stress is the number one cause of these blockages or entanglements and if not released from our body, can result in illness and chronic disease. This practice helps to release that stress from the body (cortisol) and bring about happiness (releasing dopamine, endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin). Through these gentle movements, transformations can occur on a cellular level, creating a beautiful, healing environment.
